The Society for International Development (SID)-Washington is the largest chapter of SID, a global forum dedicated to advancing equitable development. Members include practitioners from across the development sector including NGOs, the private sector, bilateral and multilateral institutions, think tanks, embassies, and universities.

Topical workgroups are one of the ways SID-Washington carries out its stated mission as a “Town Square” for the development community. One of fifteen such workgroups, the SID-W Peace & Security Workgroup, is a cadre of individuals who are actively engaged in addressing ongoing conflicts and the role security plays in international development.

SID-Washington recently announced MSI, A Tetra Tech Company’s Allison Poyac-Clarkin, PhD (formerly Practice Area Lead for Peace and Stability, now Senior Vice President for Programs) and  Chemonics International’s Elisabeth Dallas (Director, Peace, Stability, and Transition Practice) as workgroup co-chairs.

This workgroup aims to inform and educate members on the challenges faced in complex conflict environments through the regular exchange of lessons and innovation from development professionals working to advance peace and security. As leaders, Poyac-Clarkin and Dallas will work alongside members to identify and convene relevant and timely events.

The diverse scope of SID-Washington’s membership, which cuts across multiple sectors of development from humanitarian, stabilization, and long-term development, provides our team unparalleled access to a range of thought leaders within some our core service areas. We are pleased to continue this partnership with a network of experts committed to effectively engaging on topics most relevant to our community and core clients, ultimately furthering the field of peace and stability through the exchange of knowledge and innovation.
