Michael Lechner is the chief of party for the USAID/Jordan Public Accountability & Justice Strengthening Activity (PAJ) in Amman, Jordan. Michael’s diverse legal experience spans nearly three decades, during which he has served as a senior advisor for U.S. legal reform efforts internationally. For more than a decade, Michael has managed complex legal development projects in Central Asia, Eastern Europe, Kosovo, China, and Afghanistan. He is an experienced trial and appellate attorney, having served as a lead prosecutor in the country’s third-largest prosecution office (Cook County, Chicago) and founder of his own criminal/civil law practice. Before his legal career, Michael worked as a journalist where his interest in access to justice grew while covering the courts and law enforcement issues.
